French Ring Sport
French Ring is a protection sport that began in France. In North America it is run under the North American Ring Association (NARA). Dogs work off leash through jumps, obedience and bitework against a decoy in a full bite suit.
How French Ring works
- Jumps: Hurdle, palisade and long jump, scored on clean completion.
- Obedience: Heeling, food refusal, retrieves, send-away and positions, all off leash.
- Protection: Face attack, defense of handler, search and escort, and fleeing attack with a stopped attack.
Dogs earn a Brevet first, then compete at Ring I, Ring II and Ring III.
